Gaby & Shatir | An Unforgettable Partnership by Calgary Equestrian Photographer
I first met Gaby and Shatir in 2020 at Shadowlands stables. I certainly wasn’t aware of the gravity that their partnership would have on me. Over the course of the next 5 years we captured hundreds of portraits, immortalizing countless memories. I even got to meet and photograph her two adorable dogs as well. So when I received the message a year ago that Shatir’s time on this earth was coming to a close, my heart broke for Gaby. We had a spring session scheduled but it had to be moved up to April to quickly capture their remaining time together.
It was a solemn but beautiful day getting to capture their partnership together one last time. It was a reminder of true friendship, that after everything it is just about a girl and her horse. Unfortunately time isn’t anyones friend but this was a bond that will live with Gaby for the rest of her life, in her heart, on her arm with the beautiful tattoo in honour of Shatir, and in these beautiful images that she can treasure forever.
