what to wear with a golden horse?

First let’s establish what is a golden horse! This term ecompasses your palominos, duns, buckskins, champagne, perlino, cream, pearl and silver dapple. Depending on the shade of your golden horse, you may also want to look at the chestnut or grey horse blog for advice! Now for what to wear! Golden horses are going to look best when you choose outfits from the opposite end of the colour spectrum, so cool toned colours (blue, green, purple etc.). They will also look complimentary with a contrasting black.

  • Purple is your friend! Purple is a complimentary tone to the yellow base of golden horses and will make them pop and look beautiful!

  • Avoid wearing yellow at all costs! While yellow is one of my favourite colours, it just doesn’t pop against the beautiful tones in a golden horses coat.

  • Black and White are both great options and made for a crisp and clean look! Black will really make a buckskin pop but white can look washed out against a palomino.

  • Both jewel tones and pastel shades will look great with golden horses! Opt for the jewel tones with a lighter shade and pastel tones with a more vibrant coat colour.

Light colours pair great with a deep golden coat, particularly a buckskin! White and lavender are both great choices as you can see above.

Don’t be afraid of a bold pop of colour! If you keep the rest of your outfit fairly neutral, adding a vibrant and colourful element such as this red pattern shall can really brighten up your session and compliment your golden horse beautifully.

Black and White are a classic combo with a gold horse and make for a very elegant and timeless look! Pairing a white/black top with blue jeans is always going to look great with your golden pony!

If your horse is a very light shade of gold, pairing that with a dark navy or purple can really make them pop, as seen in the image on the bottom right!
