Horse & Rider Session // Kelley & Denali

I would be lying to you if I said everything at this session went smoothly. While I wish that was always the case, I can promise it is not, but what I can promise is that no matter the circumstances, every client comes out with beautiful images! And I think this is something that Kelly would certainly agree with me on.

I arrived to Mystic Meadows on the cloudy evening to be greeted by a very stressed and anxious Denali. The young gelding was only 5 years old and the combination of getting ready for photos and his pasture mates deciding to gallop around their field was just a bit much for his baby brain. But between Kelley, myself and her caring trainer, we were able to quickly get him groomed and slightly calmed, enough that we decided to continue with the session. And I am so glad we did, focusing on candid moments between Kelley and her timid gelding to capture their natural connection and not ask too much of the young five year old. The evening finished with a beautiful sunset, and it truly could not have been a more perfect end to the evening.

I ran into the pair later that summer at a horse show and it was truly a night and day transformation in Denali. This pair is clearly an excellent match and both learning a lot from eachother and doing a wonderful job to build their confidence as a team!

β€œI fell in love with him as soon as I met him because he was so cuddly and sweet. We are still learning about each other and growing together.” - Kelley

If we’ve had a session, was your horse a perfect model or did they decide to show off their personality a bit more? Tell us in the comments!

Did you fall in love with these images?

I promise you’ll love them even more if it’s you and your horse front and center! I want to make you the star and tell the story of your beautiful life.
