Horse & Rider Session // Alexandra & In Flight TM

This session was one of only a handful of sunrise sessions I have done this year, I’m not a morning person and so I don’t usually offer sunrise sessions but at Allie’s request, we were both up before the sun and facing the cold Calgary air. It was a balmy 3 degrees out, even in August and I certainly felt bad for Allie in her dress, meanwhile, I had a good jacket and winter hat to keep me warm!

The sunrise certainly made it worth it though and we had glorious morning light for her portraits with Fly! It was obvious through their carefree attitude and joyful interactions that their partnership is one built on friendship and trust, with a strong love for one another. It was clear that they each had deep patience and an understanding of one another, communication that transcends words.

Allie and Fly have been a pair for over two years now and it is clear that in that time they have both learnt from one another and accomplished incredible feats. I think it takes something very special to grow with a horse and have the patience to unlock all the potential and effort from a horse and it seems clear to me that Allie has achieved this with Fly, and managed to form a truly meaningful connection with the mare along the way! They have a truly beautiful partnership and I can’t wait to keep cheering them on from the sidelines, I’m sure they will accomplish everything they dream of!

“This horse has made me to be the person I am today, and I don't know where I would be without her.”
