Equine Fine Art

I am thrilled to present the equine fine art series, a collection of unique and artistically styled images of my favourite subject, the horse. Photography has taught me over and over about finding the beauty in life, and it has always been so easy for me to perceive that beauty in horses. Their simple essence exudes beauty and exemplifies what we define as art. It is easy to look back through the centuries and see this expressed in sculptures, paintings and drawings, but nothing captures the true being of an equine like a photograph.

These images are intended to push the boundaries of what equine photography is defined as, the rules of photography, of what angle or moment to capture. Art has no rules and what I intended to create here is art. What art is meant to do is evoke feeling and passion inside the soul, and that is why I believe that the horse is synonymous with art, because the horse evokes unequivocal passion and wildness in the human soul.

These images were not planned, staged or intended, they came about over the years through feelings of beauty, observations of something unique. I have long been an admirer of art but even as a photographer and writer, I have hesitated to call myself an artist. I have a deep adoration for capturing horse and rider, and show photography, but rarely are the boundaries such that I can allow myself to truly be an artist, rather than capturing a vision of my client. I will never stop loving equine photography in the capacity that I pursue it for my clients but rewarding myself with the true freedom to capture unique art pieces and take on the role of a true artist was something very refreshing that is allowing me to transform my photography. I recommend that all of us, photographers or not, take the time once in a while to remove the blinders and boundaries that we typically exist in and live in our life as artists, wild spirits and simple beings.
